We visited Rutland during a slow time of year, in the early spring, after the peak ski season. It can get very busy in winter with snow sports, then in the summer with campers and vacationers getting away to the mountains, and "leaf-peepers" in the autumn. We had the entire Inn to ourselves. We left Bucky in the capable care of The Paw House and sampled the local cuisine. We then made our own itenerary using flyers and brochures we had picked up in the Welcome Center.
wilson1aWe hiked at Pine Hill Park in Rutland. Miles of well marked trails to explore. We visited Wilson Castle, still in the family and undergoing restoration. We did not have time to make it to Dog Mountain and the chapel, but that gives us a reason to return next year.
